other factors:
Driving unlicenced, drugs etc

Woefully inadequate sentence. He lied about the cause (tried to blame the cyclist wobbling) and was also caught driving unlicenced afterwards. This killer could serve less than two years in gaol. :evil:

His excuse; He told police at the scene he had seen the cyclist ahead of him and that he was trying to merge into the right lane. But he said a blue car had stayed level with him and blocked him from doing so. He then told police the cyclist had “moved over and got the wobbles and swerved in front of me”.

That's an admission of criminal negligence at the very least in my non-legal view. Rather than use the brake pedal, extinguish a human life.

And it's inconsistent with this;
The Newcastle Court heard another motorist told Costello at the scene of the crash: "your two seconds of road rage has cost someone their life".

So a free pardon from Druncans office and all his costs levied against the deceaseds estate? :cry:
...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

The more cyclists using cameras, the less, "he wobbled and swerved in front of me " excuses there will be. Funny that.

He said he was about 70m away when he looked in the rear vision mirror and saw the cyclist fly from 15m to 20m into the air.

Mr Weston said the Commodore did not stop.

It is my belief that this was an act of murder. No evidence, just what I have read of the circumstances, knowing the road, and aspects of the accused's background.

Only sentenced to minimum of six years and nine months. The scumbag deserved a much longer sentence.
