This reminds me of the bloke who put up home made solar powered flashing lights at his kids' school crossing. The local council took them down, he put them up again and made something of a fuss. The council backed down and was persuaded to have official things designed and installed. This was the beginning of the flashing lights that we now see at nearly all NSW school crossings.
