I was just wondering is it worth going to police and inform them about the prick.
Is there anything else I can do ?
Thanks !
As the post by Christopher states "Without video evidence, there will be no real consequences. Consequences are only possible when a car hits you and even then as an injured or dead cyclist, you have to still prove that the motor vehicle is at fault." ... the onus seems to be on the cyclist to prove who was at fault.
My 2c is to get a forward and rear facing camera and just record the ride every time you're on a public road... a picture paints a thousand words and it only takes one serious incident to make it worth the investment.... I was dive-bombed by a motorbike on a very empty country road about a month ago ... just me and the idiot on the bike but the cameras captured it all and the police were very happy to view the footage, screen captures, number plate etc etc ... best thing was the idiot was still on P-plates so the police were going to knock some sense into him.
I had another serious run-in yesterday morning with a 4WD who seemed to think it was his right to overtake me at speed and when he was juuusst in front of me, make a very sharp left turn across me and almost putting me under the front wheels... apparently it was my fault because he flipped me the finger as well ... he looked really good on the video and again, the police were very happy to get things recorded.
I think its gone beyond 'bike v car' ... there are just too many bad drivers out there with appalling attitudes to bikes and other car drivers ... verbal abuse might not warrant much action by itself but if the driver is driving dangerously while having a rant, you might have more luck with the police... again - you'd need to show the driver at fault so video is the best way to go.
