Rail trails - making it happen UK article in Guardian plus a NSW first?

Postby antigee » Sun Sep 17, 2017 7:32 pm

a couple of articles from the Guardian popped up on Google Newsstand - one about making rail trails happen in the south west UK - contains a lovely quote which have reproduced below and I suspect maybe applicable here, plus an update on a rail trail in NSW apparently a first? - Meanwhile more locally I'm hoping the rail trail Lilydale - Yarra Glen does get completed in the near future - love riding rail trails

“I go for the easy targets first and leave the hardest until last,” says Cornish. “I’ve had landowners who’ve said ‘the only way you’ll build a cycle path here is over my dead body’. And I’ve thought, ‘Well, okay’. If you wait around they usually do die, though I’ve got a few that are still clinging on.”
