If such a lane even does exist.
Real Bike Lane is rare in NSW and the real ones probably are properly signed and painted.

Most cases in NSW are just "watch for bikes" symbols not bike lanes.
I wouldn't bet on even the real bike lanes being done properly, though its in the details..

Note the rule says
A bicycle lane is a marked lane, or the part of a marked lane:
(a) beginning at a bicycle lane sign applying to the lane, or a road marking comprising both a white bicycle symbol and the word lane painted in white, and
(b) ending at the nearest of the following:
(i) an end bicycle lane sign applying to the lane, or a road marking comprising both a white bicycle symbol and the words lane end painted in white,
(ii) an intersection (unless the lane is at the unbroken side of the continuing road at a T-intersection or continued across the intersection by broken lines),
Particularly - note point ii) about lane continuing across the intersection by broken lines

Here's one I use most days that is less than 6 months old.

There's a sign at the start.

does this end the lane -- or is it a continuation? The bike lane merges into the left traffic lane prior. Note no sign at other side of intersection.

.. and no sign when the 'bike lane' reappears.

.. until we get down the road a little.

Further intersections look like this, so they comply with point ii).

(Let's not even discuss how usable this is due to pinch points around traffic islands and parked-car door zones. This is my favourite part, same road, Southbound: https://goo.gl/maps/bZFvoRQHqhC2)

Yeah it would end, they have made a real dogs breakfast of it.
Useless government people can't even read the basics, always someone else's job.

Really they should go out there and take down the BikeLane signs since there is too much bad design happening there for an easy fix.

How wide are those lanes duncanm? The cars cutting the corner through the bike lane shows just how bad the design is.

There are a couple of places around Perth where councils have tried to create "proper" bike lanes but have made the oversight of installing "Bike Only" signs instead of "Bike Lane" signs, thereby turning the footpath into a bike path and making it illegal for pedestrians to use the footpath.

It is clear they aren't going through any sort of competent review process for the design and/or construction of bicycle facilities when they make such obvious bone-headed mistakes.

at the traffic calming devices at the kerb, and where the traffic and cycle lanes weave around the central pedestrian islands, they get down to about a metre wide.

That particular corner is bad in both directions. Northbound, cars cut the corner, Southbound, the exit of the bend is exactly where the parking zone starts, so the bicycle lane veers right just where cars are likely to push wide on the corner exit.

They're called "bicycle shoulder lanes" in the RMS bicycle infrastructure guide, Yes, not compulsory.

The only compulsory* bike lanes I am aware of local to me are along The Strand heading south at Dee Why Beach, and then along Carrington Parade South Curl Curl up the hill towards Harbord Diggers, or whatever that site is now becoming.
