Recall - Trek Bicycles with disc brakes from 2000 - 2015

The US and Europe have issued a recall of all Trek Bicycles from model years 2000 through 2015 equipped with front disc brakes and a black or silver quick release lever on the front wheel hub that opens far enough to contact the disc brake.

An open quick release lever on the bicycle’s front wheel hub can come into contact with the front disc brake assembly, causing the front wheel to come to a sudden stop or separate from the bicycle, posing a risk of injury to the rider.

In the US, Trek owners who contact Trek for the free installation of a new front wheel quick release will get a USD 20 coupon (to purchase Bontrager merchandise).

Trek Australia has provided the following information specifically for Australian Trek owners.

If you own a bicycle that is affected by this recall and would like a replacement quick release, Trek will provide you – through your Trek retailer – with a free replacement quick release, including free installation. In addition, you will receive a AUD20 coupon good towards any Bontrager product redeemable through December 31, 2015 at your local authorised Trek retailer. This coupon has no cash value.
