Madone 9 aero handlebars

Postby DaveQB » Tue Apr 19, 2016 7:07 pm

The LBS is a Specialized shop and they some decent discounts ATM. So this has started me looking at bikes (a dangerous path to start on). I have been reading about the Venge and the Madone 9. I am really impressed with the Madone 9 series; reading all the reviews I can.

This might be a silly question, but is there any way at all to attach clip-on aerobars to those aero handlebars on the Madone 9? I am suspecting not. Also, is there any way at all to attached "standard" round mounts? An adapter or some "trick"?

What a sweet bike, love the Isospeed

You will need to check with Trek if they have mounts to suit. They will need to to be specific to the profile of the bar.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

I can't find anything through some googling. Hard searching for mounting "aerobars" on "aero handlebars". I think I'll have to ask the source.

Thanks Duck!

It is of course possible that no such mount exists; many carbon bars, even round ones are not intended to have clip-on bars attached. Brace yourself for the possibility that you may have to replace the bar with a clip-on compatible model.

I am thinking that might the case. The solution might be I HAVE to buy a TT bike :)

@DaveQB14 We do not currently have a solution for aerobars on the Madone. We are evaluating that option for the future.

Not Aerobar related, but Madone related.

I picked up a 2016 Madone a couple of weeks ago, the front light mount is on backorder until Feb 2017. Had to come up with a jury rig solution for the front light for early morning rides....

Might give these a try. Main issue is I also need the dual mount to attach to the front of the bars.
