Madone 9.2 price

Postby DaveQB » Wed May 18, 2016 10:24 am

The RRP for said bike is $7,000. And all shops have it listed as such. But a few have it at sub $5,500.

Anything wrong with this bike?

I picked up the previous years 9.2 (low profile alloy wheels) as a demo bike, brilliant bike.

Immediately picked up a couple of kmh, at the same low power output ;-)

I don't race and it works well for me on a three to four hour ride on "b" roads (coarse blur metal) out and back that were less comfortable on a custom Ti frame (on the same 25mm tyres).

good response, stiff, handles well. Brakes work decently - not as good as say Dura-ace but good.

I am 183cm, and the 56cm works perfectly for me. the 58 is probably a bit big. Changing bars/stem combo is expensive (told about $600 odd) so you want to buy the right size. That said the stack/reach are not super agressive in the H2 fit, so best to compare those numbers with what you have now.

I swapped the brakes back to Shimano direct mounts, which perform noticeably better.
Keep in mind the bike you linked to does not have deep section wheels in the specs, unlike the accompanying pic.

How did you change the brakes on a 9 series to shimano direct mount ? would love to see how that is done ?

It was a couple of years ago. Maybe they've redesigned them in light of their poor performance.

I've gone with a Felt AR1 instead. LOVE IT!
