This is exactly what I'm going through now.
I don't even ride anything with hills as the brakes are always so off alignment it's constant rub. (thankgod I have another roadie)
CNY has halted any shipping for the last week, but hopefully I get my order through tomorrow.

Yeah... It's horrible.

Not so bad out on the open road, but commuting into the city with a few tight turns and pedestrians out and about, every single time I touched the front brake, i'd have to reach down and push the left arm in, so the right arm popped off the brake track and wasnt rubbing...

I was literally riding around (semi cautiously) hoping that I wouldnt have to use the front brake at all...

No such problems now... it wasnt really the bikes fault, but its much more enjoyable to ride now and not having to worry about it anymore.

So after a few enquiries with Aus stores Re:Fouriers, without much luck, I ordered from an ebay store.
$264 AUD delivered. Pretty happy with the price, and will be even happier once I can start riding the bike without worrying about the brakes.

So what has Giant done to rectify these deficient brakes on their latest propel? It's got me buggered why they don't use direct mounted Shimano calipers TBH.

Yep aero. :P They've released a new model brake which has fixed some of the problems but at the same time introduced a new set of problems especially in regards to tyre clearances on particular rims and tyre combos with the tyre physically rubbing against the brake cable. It's a catch 22. We've fixed some of the problems....buuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttt if you run this tyre on this rim you might have some problems.

Ah, mounted on the front of redesigned fork you will get all your supposed aero benefits with something that actually works

Just stating its a stupid design thst doesn't work. Admit defeat and start again. I'm sure Giant has a more then large enough engineering/design dept. to sort it.

The new TRP brales are a lot less temperamental than the old ones. I haven't dissected a set of either model to see what's changed in there, but the pivots are a lot less sticky, making the springs much easier to balance. I think they've tweaked the floating nut in the brake shoes too, they're a lot easier to get toed properly than the old ones, which really had a mind of their own.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Is anyone selling their old 2015 model TRP brakes?

I didn't think people with the 2015 models bothered upgrading to the fouriers ?

hahaha... I guess you could say I do. Iv got a TCR advanced 0 that i'll be using when it starts to get wet and for most of the commuting duties, but i'll try and use the Propel when its good weather and dry days. Why not? Iv paid for it, may aswell use it...

But the Propel is still for club rides and longer weekend rides... It isn't solely a commuter. I just try and use it as much as I can, I guess.
Doesnt have mudguards or a rack or anything...!

Nothing wrong with it ... just a pretty aggressive bike for such duties.

Yeah, I guess it could be... My most direct commute is only 8.5km each way, though. Even if I take a longer and more scenic route, its still only 20km each way, so its not like im long and low, for hour upon hour and causing any problem or issue with fit / pain.

As I say, id rather ride it than not, when I can.
I'd hate to have bought it to never use it...!

I'm with you on getting the most out of your expensive bike. My commuter is worth more than my propel

The Fourier's website listed two versions of these brakes:

BR-DX005 are CNC machined for $425.

BR-S005 are forged for $225.

I'd go forged over cnc every time. A much stronger process of manufacture.

I'm about to replaced the brake cables on my Propel.

Can anyone tell me if where the cable disappears into the top tube has an internal guide?

Cheers.
