I commutted for years and the whole drive train is knackered
As it's around 2007 vintage, I'm unsure what to replace the SRAM components with, its a mix of X7 and X9.
I'm going to change the brakes too.
There's so many pitfalls with drive trains. Braze on. English threads. BB types . Number of bolts.
Nightmare.
I'm brand agnostic.
I am happy with 105 levels of performance.
Words of wisdom appreciated with regards buying replacements and fitting. I have a reasonably extensive bicycle toolkit

What are you aiming to achieve? The Reign is an "All Mountain"/borderline downhill bike, you're going to strike fairly substantial issues trying to fit road gear, particularly around the crank area.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

If you want 105 levels of performance, you need to use SLX MTB gear.

I made my 2009 Reign 1 into 1x10. Narrow wide ring, 10 speed SLX shifter, 10sp SLX clutch derailluer and XT 10sp chain.
