Went for a bike fit the other week. They suggested raise the saddle a little.
Home I go, lift up that Fizik ring around the base of the seat post and find a compression indentation running vertically from 10mm above the clamp disappearing down into the frame.
So I released the clamp pulled out the post and called a mate who deals with BMC. He says," the frame isnt cracked is it" ....further investigation located a small 4mm crack on the inside of the seat tube running out from the front compression tab, a gentle push revealled the crack to be hairline but about 8mm long running down and to the right of the compression tab.
Pretty apparent someone has overtightened the seat clamp beyond the 3nm max.
Im now going thru the warranty process and will probably end up with a 2015 team red which I I like a lot less than my 2014

Not Good Flex. Is it repairable? I would of been tempted by a repair job if you are concerned about the 2015 model. But geez 3nm isn't much to play with, I would of thought those seat posts would of been 5-6Nm if I was guessing (which I try not to do with carbon!).
Anyway if you have a cracked SLR01 frame which needs a good home you know where I am You already know how much I've always wanted one of those models!

Probably doesnt even need repairing. Its in a non stress area once the clamp is tightened to spec.
Given its warranty the frame will go the way of the Doe Doe. ( bottom bracket cut out) to satisfy Andy Riis.
I would have thought you were more comfy on a 53 Rod?

Yeah thought they might of done something with the old frame under warranty being BMC, however I have heard in a case or two with Giant they have replaced the frame and haven't done anything with the old frame so they have taken it home and used it for other means.
BMCs sizing use to be so confusing. I thought I was like a 52 a couple of years back ( that might if been on a regular team machine). I looked up the geos for the 2015 slr01s recently and I reckon I'm probably a 54 now (about a 55 top tube) which is about the norm in other brands so they must of changed their sizing or their geo has changed ??. Anyway something is different.
