Problems are back maybe...

Running like a dog from 8:45 pm AEST today. Taken 10 minutes to find this thread and load post reply page. As bad as ever...

Hope the host co has a better idea.

+1 Just slowed right down. First time I've had problems but not been on much.

yep, slow to load again, what a pain in the behind.
No better than before at this point

Spoke too soon, slow loads up to ~15sec, no 404s yet.

I am going to re-install the forum (fresh) and move all posts across - though will disable it so nothing is lost. Will try to get onto this during a quite time.

Yes, did delay the update from 11:30pm (on the 24th) to 11:55pm as there were still a few members around and I didn't want anyone too loose a post - hence the flashing logo on the top right to make it obvious.

So now we have a forum with a new look.

What about performance? For me it has still been slow though need a few more opinions to get a feel for whether it is just me or lots of members are experiencing this.

Yeah slow page loads again 9:23 AEST

Still slow here also. Got to the point where I am clicking on a thread, going to do something else for a couple of minutes then coming back to it. Has usually loaded by that stage.

Hopelessly slow at 10:01 am AEST. No better than before the change last night - maybe worse.

+1 hopelessly slow... but... no connection errors as yet... (10:12 AEST)

Also is the Server located in QLD? The post time is 1 hour earlier then real time... (oh maybe I need to check my preferences for timezone before getting carried away with that.


Also - can we have the "quick post" feature enabled?

I got a gateway timeout at approx 10:27 AEST

As for the times, look at the bottom of your page:

All times are UTC + 10 hours

Update - just on the phone to the host and they making a commitment to find and solve the problem and to make up for the problems caused.

The bad news, no definite time frame when it will be fixed - suggestion is between 10 minutes and 3 days to locate the problem. The suggestion is that it could be a php issue.

The good news is that the problem is being more seriously approached.

I suggest is that when the site is fast - take advantage of it - post yourself crazy. When it is slow, but you need an online cycling dosis, go through the net and learn! Bring back the new found knowledge to these forums. Yes, you can even contribute on the main bicycles.net.au with newsworthy info and information of interest for the cycling community. Prepare an article to be published. Create homemade flyers for your local bike shop or community pinboard to tell other cyclists about the forums.


Thank you everyone for being so patient and understanding. I don't think I am alone in recognising the quality of information and the members here.

(reminder: copy entire post before posting, just in case... well server did die just then (twice) and I will try again).

Site so slow to be unusable at 11:20am AEDT.

Am also getting just a text versio nof the forum at times...no graphical interface.

Fixed by selecting "Summer Time" in the Profile.

It is running like a 50 year old goat at the moment.

+1 for all the above problems.

I consider it non-functional at the moment. I say that not to gripe, but so that when you're talking to the host you can tell them that we (well, me at least) can't see the point in visiting the site at the moment.

Maybe PM me when the forum's usable again.

Page loads are being timed with an hourglass since 1315 local, one SQL fail to load.

Why don't you let the ISP know your views? Might be more constructive.

I think you are being a bit unrealistic here. That would involve a lot of work by the Moderators if we went down this path. I don't think anyone member is that important
