Hello, Same as for a few days - server died with various error messages, apparantly too many connections. Strange that we never had this before and visitor numbers are no different. We have notice that there have been some possible attempts to look for server vunerabilities however can't say what exactly happened.. as it shouldn't just die like this

I saw that too I also get a box saying "Authentication Required" which says "The site says: forums_test" It has a username and password box with ok and cancel

I got the same thing as well so I closed my browser and clear my cache which solved the issue then the forum died for a couple of minutes.

Mulger - I'm possibly overreacting - but I would be changing your password...esp considering your a mod. The prompt might have logged your credentials

+1, my first though when I read MB's post was to suggest a PW change. Unfortunately one can never be too cautious on the interwebs

Hi, Two things happened - A forum update - with the light blue bar and unfortunately the server died which meant I wasn't able to get the blue bar and forum sponsor banner sorted out. The 'sexy lady' is from a new advertiser on the BNA main site - Slane Cycles based in Northern Ireland who have good value cycling gear ... want to find out more about them and their prices - visit the main site ( BNA Home) and click on the banner. I am hoping that our forum sponsor will be onboard soon. I am assuming that the forum_test and login field has gone now - should have been temporary.

I have spent a lot of time looking at log files and there is nothing definite there which would indicate a specific cause. Could it be that too many members are online at the same time? Maybe, although when the server died I noticed around 69 members online whereas last year we reached 158 members without problems.
I will now see what feedback I get from the host and hope to get some clarity and isolate that actual cause.

G'day Getting off-topic, but a couple of comments on this banner: (1) When I visit the page using Firefox 3.0.10 the banner looks like it is sort of sliding off the page if that makes sense. I think it needs to be lowered slightly so there is some blue at the top; (2) Slane Cycles might want to think about the banner as well. My first impression was soft porn. No mention of Slane Cycles or really what the banner is linking to. If you hadn't mentioned it here I wouldn't have clicked on it as it has the "spam" look about it; (3) Postage charges are horrendous. I have notified them of my concerns with same. Regards Andrew
