t-i-n-y-u-r-l dot com isn't a spam

Just noted that this forum has been set to block the listing of URLs containing t-i-n-y-u-r-l dot com (had to string that word out or it'll get blocked).

Not sure if this is deliberate or an oversight.

I can see why they'd be blocked, a tiny url could point to absolutely anything (spam or worse) and you don't know what until you follow the link. I can't see the point in using them on the forum anyway.

Ok. Fair enough. I guess forum texts aren't pestered by those ">" marks and line returns.

I can't remember the exact reasonning now and a quick search couldn't dig out the reasonning either, but it's something in the code for tiny-url. No need to use it anyway as creating your URL link to show as a short word rather than show the full URL works.

Hi,

Thank you for asking. We had a big spam problem with tiny url as there could by anything behind the url and it tended to be more spam than serious users using the tiny url.
