After a database crash late last week, a few user accounts vanished.
After a bit of detective work and support from fellow mod m@ who has helped me with the programming bit - 4 member accounts have been ressurected and 3 more are in the works (once they get back to me with some details).
From error messages, there may be a few more who have yet to login and discover the problem - simply email me so that we can start and sort it out.
Cheers
Christopher

Unrelated issue.
Often this issue as described is 'local' - so you may have at Caps Lock on for example.
A trick I use is copying and pasting the password if it just isn't working.
Also - worth refreshing everything by clearing the cache and cookies... and when you log in again click the checkbox to remain logged in - and usually you won't have issues after that.
