Thank you. Tried all that but no success. Thought there may have been an embargo.

I have tried all different combinations of sizes without success. If you look at my profile page you will note that my avatar is a blue square with a ? in the middle. This indicates to me that something is uploaded but is not recognised for some reason.

I can see one now - it is tiny and the best size is 80x80px in jpg.

ok - I think I know what is happening and it is a technical thing (since we moved hosts and have changed the principles of the setup).

If you can keep in mind the process - I will put this on my task list to build a solution to permanently store the Avatars.

Yes, interested in the answer to this, too.
Have tried to load a couple of pictures in the 14 months I've been a member.
I'll keep watching.

Only an issue for the last few months - the avatars uploaded beforehand are working fine.

TEMPORY SOLUTION FOR AVATARS

Step 1
Upload your avatar in your member account. It may or may not display, but it is an important step.

Step 2
Email me your avatar (image) plus a link to your member account. This means - click on your member name / avatar and copy the URL and include this in the email (e.g. memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=34838)

email to info@bicycles.net.au (subject - forum avatar)

The back-end is a bit tricky, but I will manually setup the image so that when the site next updates, the new avatar should display with your account.

The server tech unfortunately makes the avatar setup difficult, so hopefully this temporary solution is helpful.

So I gather that there is still a problem uploading Avatars? I've just spent 30mins trying to upload a new one and it won't do it, no matter how small I make it.

My Avatar seems to last a week and then I need to re-upload?
Gone again at the moment.

Edit: Redid it. See how long it lasts this time.

Hello,
Afraid they won't last two long. It is based on the hosting which is different from regular hosting. Rather than saving all the content and just growing over time (but also being unable to scale) we have a scaling approach which by default doesn't play as nicely with content. Specifically for the forums it is tricky and recently I identified an approach... very techy but I have to test it which is a time consuming and complex process and time has not yet been on my side.

So at the stage, emailing the avatar is the only approach... and the avatars should then be visible on the next major update (which is also a time consuming approach.... but is completed more frequent).

Thanks for your patience.

I won't bother emailing one as I still have't settled on one I may keep over the longer period.
Have deleted my existing one as it kept disappearing anyway.
