Specialized Rockhopper 2013 or 2014

Postby slau73 » Tue Oct 08, 2013 12:56 pm

I'm looking at getting a Specialized Rockhopper 29. Quite a number of shops still have the 2013 stock at reduced prices. So my question is, should I get:

1. Rockhopper 29 2014 model ... http://www.specialized.com/au/en-au/bik ... r-29#specs
2. Rockhopper Comp 29 2013 model ... http://www.jtcycles.com.au/mountain-bik ... =81E2-4292

The 2014 base model is $899 and the 2013 Comp variation is reduced from $1199 to $999. Should I spend the extra $100 on the Comp? I'm not familiar with MTB components and what's good and what's not, so would appreciate some assistance here.

BTW, I'm not going to be a serious MTBer. Just the odd trial ride. At most, I might end up going on slightly technical tracks but nothing severe. And admittedly, its probably going to see more recreational bike path usage (i.e. riding with the kids) than say a dirt road! But I wanted the Rockhopper for future proofing! And I wanted a Specialized to match my Venge ;-)
