Scott Foil 40I am riding a hybrid bike, Avanti Blade 4.0 and thinking to upgrade to Race bike. I was looking at Scott Foil 40 coz it's selling at 1999 at my LBS now. Is it worth to consider it?
Re: Scott Foil 40BUY IT... If it feels right when you ride it.
I just paid $2500 for the 2013, Team replica. Love it, went over all other brands. (see other threads) Makes me feel very special. Smashing my PB's on Strava too. Where are you located?
Re: Scott Foil 40
I am in Perth
Re: Scott Foil 40
Ahhh long way to Post from LBS.... I upgraded from an old Raleigh, wife upgraded from a MTN Bike, she said she never realised cycling was enjoyable until she got on a roadie. Take it for a 30 min ride, you will know within 10 mins if it's better.
Re: Scott Foil 40Just went to see the bike at the store. The Foil 40 (2013) is much lighter than the Giant TCR Advanced 3 (2012). The aerodynamics aero frame is simply superb and nice color paint works. It has internal cabling, integrated seat post and a full Shimano 105 groupo. I quickly placed a backorder on Size s @1999. I must say this is the best buy ever.
Re: Scott Foil 40I like the idea of the gearing option. Something not many manufacturers offer. 1 of the reasons I chose to build up a new bike instead. The foil is a sweet looking frame in the flesh
Re: Scott Foil 40YES,
Another Foil owner.. Congrats... When I was shopping around people were shocked that I didn't like the Giant TCR.Not even close in the flesh IMO. Enjoy my Foil more everyday. And Kudos on the Price too, my guy was $2500 firm. But, he did me a great Tiagra full swap out on the GLW bike so can't complain. Don't forget the gallery, pics or didn't happen! Merry Christmas
Re: Scott Foil 40After one month placing the order, my Scott Foil 40 has finally arrived. The bike is really light as compared to my cross (10kg). I have got the size S which is even lighter about (7.9kg including the 105 pedals). First impression, the paint works is excellent virtually flawless with the ORICA GreenEDGE design. Pretty stiff and responsive. It has full internal cabling design. Last but not least, it's a value buy cost me @1999 for this full carbon aerodynamics frame and 105 groupo
Re: Scott Foil 40Congrats. I recommend u get a good pair of bibs.
Foils are fast and responsive but a bit harsh on your ass Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk yes, I'm an overweight weight weenie

Re: Scott Foil 40Hey sexy lady................. Congrats. They look fast even when just sitting still.
The only problem I have is I now want everything to coordinate, clothes and shoes etc. No red or blue highlights!!!
Re: Scott Foil 40
Yea..me too. I am still waiting for my new road helmet and Garmin edge 510 to come in. I took my first easy ride to work today and smashed quite a number of my strava PRs.
Re: Scott Foil 40any more ride updates? possibly looking at getting one of these coming off a giant defy 1
Re: Scott Foil 40Look I still get a buzz every time I see it or ride it. I used the same climb and descent on every bike test much to the LBS's annoyance. The Foil, despite be being tired won the race, it didn't feel faster at the time but it was and by a long way.
I do not regret it at all. And after a quick mtn bike ride at the weekend you forget how easily they make you a hero. Ignore the harshness comments I have not found that, however I have invested in good bibs! Try it I'm sure you'll love it.
Re: Scott Foil 40Thnx for the write up wakatuki! Ill just have to find a shop that will allow extended test rides!
Re: Scott Foil 40So far I have done 200+ km on this bike. The bike is fast and comfortable to ride. The gear shifting is excellent fast and quiet. The only drawback is the noise coming from the wheels and cassette. I guess the noise is easily transferred to the carbon frame. This is my first carbon bike so I am not too sure the noise thing is a norm or not.
Re: Scott Foil 40The carbon noise, yeah I figure it's that too, noticed it on all the carbon bikes I tested, you can sometimes hear it on the videos posted on here. Not what I got from my steely at all! I like the sound now, it reminds me that I'm riding expensive kit, in my wallet size category! Perhaps I'm worth it!
It's similar to the sounds you get from a track racing car when the gearbox whines away, the first time you hear it, you think, is this thing going to blow? The price of removing all sound deadening from a car you get a big echo box... Cmm, any Foil update, or test rides?
Re: Scott Foil 40
Let's phrase it as "Aerodynamics sound"...:p. Those noise is more profound especially on aero carbon wheelsets i guess. Just like the TT bike...
Re: Scott Foil 40hmm not sure an aero frame sounds like anything on a road bike.
lighter drive trains often sound louder. Carbon, titanium and aluminium parts tends to sound hollow compared to steel. yes, I'm an overweight weight weenie

Re: Scott Foil 40I purchased the same bike as pictured above in January of this year, I have since updated the groupset to Dura Ace 7900 and the wheels to Dura Ace 7850. My verdict, I love the damn thing, when you stand up and hit those pedals the bike jumps and just wants to go. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about getting a Scott Foil.
Re: Scott Foil 40Got myself a Foil 15 a couple of months ago. I thought it would be much more uncomfortable that anything I rode before. Although you can feel every gravel or bump on the road, it rides like a dream and even on long rides (four hours+), my old skeleton handles it better than I expected. It is light(7.3kg) and responsive. The Ultegra Di2 is a breeze to use. Also no complaints (yet-time will tell) about Synchros components (that one was a step in the unknown at the time of purchase).
