Scott Speedster 2010 to CR1 2010

Postby balap » Sat Jun 22, 2013 11:41 pm

I've been riding a Scott Speedster 30 2010 model for 3 years.
It's an aluminium alloy frame with Tiagra gearset. I like the bike very much.

I now have an opportunity to get Scott CR1 Team 2010 for around $1000.
It has the same geometry. Even the same colour.
But CR1 has carbon frame and 105 gearset.

Will I notice a difference between the two?
If so what that will be?
I am alright on a flat road but struggle up hills.
Is CR1 more comfortable?

Thanks.

I was in similar situation as you. Had a aluminium alloy road bike but was infected by upgradetitis and bought a full carbon bike with better groupset.

Did i notice a difference? Hell yes but all i can say is i did not fall in love with my new bike straight away. Had the same geometry set up on both and yet i always feel at home in the old bike. It will take a while to get use to the new bike and i still cant ride it as fast as the old bike due to my own confidence with the bike but I'm getting there.

I too struggled uphill with my old bike and still struggle with a carbon bike. Only one way to get better at this. Training and perseverance.

Never rode a CR1 but I doubt any one person will have the same opinion on what is comfortable.

Just test the bike, make a decision after that and be happy with your decision :D

Good luck and happy riding

Why are you less confident with the carbon bike?

If I were to upgrade I expect the bike to be easier to ride uphill and at least the same comfort level.

Maybe I should stay with my current bike?
