The Addict is back.

Can't wait to start reading reviews of the new Addict and Solace. And of the Syncros wheel sets.

The base black/white colourways for the foils look alright, not really igniting my tastes.. Just subtle colour differences for spec. Interesting to see that the 40 is now the 20 by the looks.. and the 20 is now the 10?

I would like a chance to test ride each model to compare the rides against my 2012 CR1.

The Foil 20 specs is similar to the old Foil 40 but it fitted with TIAGRA cassette and Ultegra BB-set

Seeing as it's largely a 105 spec'd bike, the Ultegra BB-set is a bonus. I would just ask if they could use a full 105 group set. You don't have to buy the bike as it's set up, you can ask for changes. It may cost a bit extra, or it may not.

My Foil 40 is still looking good, just 8 months old only and clock less than 2000km.

Anyone know how the rear brakes on the Solace fit to the frame?

I like the look and want to look at retrofitting them to my new bike.

I can't find any Shimano tech documents that show the mountings.

so they just changed their numbering system...! (also 10 looks like the old 20 spec wise i think...)

You could find out if your local Avanti dealer has any in stock, and have a look. Also the 2013 Trek Madone 6.5 has the same rear break mounting. Forum member HAKS has one pictured in the Bike Gallery, so you could try contacting him about his bike. Which bike is it?

I strongly doubt you can fit that style of brake to a bike that isnt equiped for it because you'd need the bolt/mounting hole set into the frame in that area. I think most of the under BB brakes are the direct-mount variety.

Yes having looked at the photo's doesn't look doable.

Apparently the new Trek's are able to fit this brake but it appears not the Merida I bought. Damn should have waited for the new Scott!

I crashed my CR1 Pro 2013, which I loved. The frame is beyond repair but the components are still good.

Does anyone know if the new 2014 CR1 30 frames are the same as the 2013 ones? They're certainly priced a lot cheaper. Was thinking of getting a CR1 30 for $1500 just for the frame and swapping my ultegra components onto it...

The CR1 range had become Scott's endurance range, but I think from 2014 they have returned to the road range and been replaced by the Solace as the endurance bike. So my guess that a new CR1 would have slightly racier geo than a 2013 model. Check out the Solace maybe ?

I'm starting to enter the market for a replacement for my 2010 Oppy and the Scott Addict 10 is firming as a contender (Alongside a BH Ultralight RC)

I'll be at my LBS taking the Oppy in for a service this weekend - may have to ask nicely for a test ride.

Well it seems that due to a recent fall the FOIL 40 maybe written off as they cannot confirm if the frame is or is not compromised.
So the Addict seems to the way I am insured so that's the first relief. It will most likely be the Addict 15 which is the closest replacement.
Has anyone ridden both and what comparisons would you make?
