Such a great design that SRAM even copied it.

I'm (very) slowly building up a new frameset at the moment, and now I'm torn on what to do with the groupset!

If the new mechanical Ultegra is slated for Sep release i'd guess Di2 will follow a month or two later. I'm sure Shimano are trying to get it out on 2014 bikes but as with the new Dura ace I suspect the first bikes with it on them won't hit our shores till early 2014.

It is pretty average actually, as is DA 7900. DA 7800 is streets ahead of both, haven't ridden with DA 9000 to compare.
I haven't ridden DA 9000, but built a few bikes with it, and it's vastly superior to 7900 (which along with its 6700 & 5700 derivatives is definitely a backward step from its predecessor). It's reasonable to expect, given Shimano's history of trickling down through the groupsets, that 6800 will be a very similar jump in the right direction.
(My roadie is specced with 6600 Ultegra, and that too is a heap smoother than 7900/6700/5700).

The "E-Tube" wiring means that they're compatible with all Di2 kits except the original 7970 Dura Ace series.

I'll be ordering myself a set as soon they start actually hitting the shelves
My poor frame was starting to look a bit sad without any groupset attached!

can I use the 6800 crank with the 6700 derailleur/chain?
