Looking at getting 2nd hand race wheels but struggling with choice. Both these DA WH7900 (10 speed) wheels appear in the price range I'm looking and I can't decide between them. They will be used for both road racing and triathlon. Any opinions?
Cheers

If they are to be used for TT, get the 50's.
If you live in a windy area, get the 35's.
Or get both, at least they will look similar to each other, so you might get away with it.
Cheers,
Darrin.

LOL. Love your thinking! But I'm already worried that I won't even get away with ONE set!Pedaling wrote: ... Or get both, at least they will look similar to each other, so you might get away with it.

My thoughts match yours but I'm having difficulty deciding which criteria I feel are more important to me. But I've read the 35's have good aero performance - is this true? They are lighter so might be an advantage on the hills - but the hills aren't much to speak of where I ride.

C35. Can take them in the hills. If you have to own one set, get these.

Buy these, best of both worlds, light and aero.

If you race in the wind (or can't back out because your once a year event won't get cancelled because of high wind) then strongly consider 35s unless you are rather comfortable getting thrown around a bit. I've been fighting my tyres lately, and trying out some latex tubes on the rear, and with the wind buffets on my light frame I'm moving around a LOT with 50s. I don't feel it's unsafe, but I definitely don't feel solid on the ground with any breeze. Part of me thinks "just go deeeeep" if you want deep, like 808s front and back, and use 35s if you don't want a deep wheel. The weight difference isn't worthwhile to be concerned about, and the handling issues are either serious or not worth worrying about either. I'd get a 808 pair with a 303 front for windy days if I was spending money on wheels again. 50s front and back are nice, but I think it would be wiser to get something shallower for windy days and just accept the rear wheel drift to get the aero benefit.
