M785 vs r785 calipers

Hi all

I have looked every where but can't seem to find an answer they say the r785 (road caliper) is a refined version of the m785 (MTb caliper) but I can't find what the difference is if any.

Would the m785 caliper work in a road bike setup?

I don't know for certain, but I think the slave cylinder volume in the caliper is different; a little larger in the road version, so piston action is less aggressive giving better modulation.

no help, although i did read somewhere that they used a less stiff brake line the line to help with modulation and power.

if you're looking for calipers there is also an RS785 now as well. basically the same but without the banjo fitting, and hose located inboard of the caliper (much better for internally routed frames, stops tight bends on the rear caliper)

Also improves foot clearance when the brake is chainstay mounted - Shimano were receiving feedback of riders kicking the banjo attachment, hence the repostioned hose & bleed nipple ports.

good point, especially on low Q-factor cranks, 135mm rear ends and short chainstays... ala new disc CX and disc road bikes.

i used to belt my BB7's all the time, the MUCH slimmer TRP Spyre's alleviated the same problem.
