Greetings all, here's a little heads-up regarding some updates to Shimano's range of 11-sp. chains.
By now you'd be familiar with the CN-9000 Dura-Ace & CN-6800 Ultegra chains that have been around for the last 1-2 years. Well now that XTR has gone 11-sp. on the dirt side of things, they decided they needed a chain to work for that too. Rather than the separate road & MTB chains they had with 10-sp. gear, they've decided to simplify things a bit with a new range of chains that will do both.
So!
That means the old road 11-sp. chains are now discontinued and will only remain available while existing stocks are out in the wild. Replacing CN-9000, and also specced for XTR is CN-HG900. Ultegra (and presumably XT next year) is now CN-HG700. 105 is not affected because its CN-HG600 was developed in conjunction with these new models. It is important to note that like the 10-sp. chains, these are direction specific, so when fitting ensure they go on the right way!
