Shimano M7000 & M8000
Postby IamGroot » Wed Aug 10, 2016 9:30 pm
Does anyone know the difference between the Shimano M7000 and the M8000 series. I've taken a look at the Chain Reaction online store and they look the same and are also priced much the same.

Materials primarily. XT (M8000) has more aluminium, where SLX (M7000) has some steel parts (particularly in the rear derailleur). M8000 shifters have tighter tolerances and a much nicer feel, the crank arms have a bigger hollow up the guts than M7000, chains & cassettes have different hardening processes and corrosion-resistant coatings.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
