Campagnolo derailleur part wanted (circa 30 years ago)
Postby cyclonite » Sat Jul 09, 2016 10:24 pm
Hello fellow bike nuts
Scored a nice 30 odd year old Soren Son a while back, its decked out with campy gear, nice old bike but have a problem with the derailleur, it has a busted bit and Im finding it hard to find a replacement part for it.
Ive been to a few bike shops re the problem and they have all referred me to the internet so here I am
Ps how does one place pix here?

Welcome to the internet - hope you like it.
For images: How to post images on the Australian Cycling Forums
To help - if you note the current model and speed, then this will help others who have it as you will want to get a compatible derailleur or 'busted bit'.
Cheers
Christopher

Can you please be a little more specific on what the busted bit is? Without some details it's impossible to know if it's replaceable or not.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Thanks for the welcome, had a bit of trouble with one of the suggested photo hosting sites (failing to send confirmation emails and then freezing chrome up, so I just used my (very) old photobucket account.
Local bike shop suggested drilling and screwing a self tapper into it, trickey.
Any advice would be welcomed and appreciated, thanks.

Ah, the B-tension base plate, a traditional Campag weakness. Sadly I think you're going to have a hard time finding a suitable replacement, certainly not from Campagnolo themselves via their distribution channel. You may strike it lucky through the retro scene, but I fear you have a lengthy search ahead of you.
Your jockey wheels are also badly worn.

This place may be able to get you a replacement derailler of the same vintage. From the photo's it looks like a circa 1990 Athena.

Such a shame Nigel is selling his business. I'm not old enough to spend the rest of my life pottering around a shed in the English suburbs quite yet.
But tempted.
