I'm hopeful of having a CX bike running by May, with the primary intention being an alternative to on-road miles over winter. I'd also like to have a crack at some of the races/events like Fields of Joy, etc.
How does one go about entering, being graded?
Is FoJ open outside of races for practice? Been a while since I pedalled off road....

Keep at eye on the relevant websites, they'll post the details eventually.
To enter you need a CA or other accepted race licence. 3 race licences are usually offered.
As for grading, its very informal. Just pick what you reckon would suit you.
Not sure about if the FoJ course is open.

Best contact the guys direct Lucky7. From a FB post 8th September 2014 "We have voluntarily restricted access to the rollercoaster in a proactive response to a vocal local. We are taking a long term view and ask riders to limit access to designated race days. Thanks"
No mention about the rest of the course though...

As for the licence, if they accept mtba licences then check out the 8 week freebie.

FoJ was open last time I was there (Rollercoaster aside)... haven't been this year though.
If you follow FoJCX and DDCX on FaceBook they will post a link to a Google Docs form when entries open for each round; both accept either MTBA or CA licenses.
Grading is pretty much an honesty system - if you don't have recent off-road experience you'd probably want to start in C unless you race a higher grade on the road.
Also - this year's dates in case you haven't seen them:
Sunday 19 April - FoJCX
Saturday 23 May - DDCX
Sunday 24 May - FoJCX
Sunday July 19 - DDCX
Sunday 19 July - DDCX

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe
