New bike Focus Izalco Pro 3

Postby wayno78 » Sat Jun 02, 2012 7:43 pm

Well after riding around on a Diamonback Interval for 5 years I jumped in the deep end and bought a Focus Izalco Pro 3. Pick it up in a week or so, probably wont know myself going from Sora to Sram Force. Giddy Up!

Anyone else on here have a focus or ridden one?

Focus Cayo with SRAM Force - loving it - wheels are a little suspect, but that is probably more to do with my weight though

Do you have DT Swiss Wheels on your rig?

Yes - DT Swiss wheels - but since this post had them replaced under warranty - news one felt much better, but had lost confidence in the settup, so with a better than expected tax return - upgraded the wheels to Campy Eurus :D

I have a Cayo Ultegra with Zeros and I love it to bits. Wouldn't know any better though as shes my first roadie...

For some reason I really really like the looks of Focus bikes, especially the black ones.

the Izalco Pro 3.0 looks a good package for the price. is the Izalco 4.0 using the exact same frame?

though I noticed the Pro 4.0 at my LBS... it is listed as having SRAM Red Black. This is not accurate on the focus website, and I didn't think RED would be on a cheaper model than SRAM Force which is on the 3.0...

could be an error as the focus website actually list's the 4.0 with Ultegra.

I have the Cayo Evo 3.0, not the 2.0 you're looking at. I'm very happy with it. It is stiff and responsive. I'm still a newbie but the difference in ride between my Giant Defy and this bike is night and day (not a fair comparison I know).

I also have the Cayo 2 with Ultegra and think its a killer bike. Very happy with the ride.

Here is small video of my bike when I first got it.

just bought the focus izalco pro 3 2013. awesome bike. handles like nothing else with not too aggressive geometry. slightly heavier than my cervelo s2 with record, but a much better bike.

It's my first roadie, so can't really compare it, but I love it. Not Di2 though. As I ride Sydney roads it's pretty rough terrain, but I have no problem with the comfort over the awful roads, soaks up the bumps nicely. For the price & as they are German, they're good value for money, in my opinion.

Bought one a few weeks back. Exceptional bike for the money in my opinion.

It's sitting pride of place in the lounge room at present, will try and get some pics up when it's nice outside, and hoping for a nice day tomorrow to get it out on its maiden ride, got a nice set of Fulcrum Quattro's sitting on it too

Nearly got one of these a few weeks ago. Went for the Cayo Evo 2.0 with Di2 and Fulcrum Zeros.
Great day tomorrow to get out and give it a run.

If I was to get a plastic bike it would definitely be a Focus Izalco.

There is something about a German made carbon frame that is strangely appealing. That and the fact they are one of the few modern bikes with an almost horizontal top tube, ie it doesn't look like a girls bike.
