It looks like yours was prepped after my feedback on the bar spacing.

When I have cause to redo my bartape, I will be moving the interruptor brakes closer to the hoods than they currently are, so that I have some room to put a light on.

That said, I'm a fan of the black/green/white of my Cyclo cross 4. :D

Plenty of frame clearance now with the commuting tires on.

I am so behind on updates to this thread... I have been systematically upgrading my 2013 907-E this year. It now has:
- fizik aliante bull saddle (black)
- 6870 11 speed groupset; replaced brifters, front and rear dérailleurs.
- went with the 6870 gs medium cage rear derailleur
- di2 sprint shifters
- dura ace 9000 brakes
- black bar tape
- ultegra compact crank set (used adaptor to fit this to the bottom bracket)
- 11-32 11 speed ultegra cassette (brilliant for climbing)
- fulcrum racing zero alum clinchers with conti gp4000s2 tyres
- stages power meter
- 90mm Fsa slk stem (just to bring the reach back a little for me)

Absolutely loving the setup. The sprint shifters are awesome, and I love having the power data at hand.

Disc brakes on my wish list; but that's going to mean a major upgrade... N+1... :-)
Loving my Merida's and working towards adding a Pinarello to the stable... Go go go...

The good old 2011(?) CX4 - an unpretentious (10kg 105) but fantastic all-round bike for commuting, CX racing and touring. It's been ridden hard and put away wet but still comes up smiling.

On the Stelvio - second highest road pass in Europe (2,758m).

Image

The following day the CX4 (and baggage) worked up the top of the Gavia Pass (2,652m) from the Bormio side;

Image

followed by the next day by a much quicker run without baggage from the Ponte de Legno side for a quick windsurf on Lago Bianco at the top of the pass.

Image

On Mt Ginini in the ACT - the snow that is visible started falling when I was about 50m laterally from the 1762m peak, which made for a very cold ride back down.

Image

And to finish, my wife's CX5 on a tour through Germany. It's been her main daily commute for years.

I joined the Merida club last night on my way home from work. To quote the FB message I've just sent to my LBS...

"Cold, wet, dark, early, couldn't see !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! through my glasses, so decided to go for an extra 15km this morning that's how happy I am!"

Welcome to the club. I bought the same bike seven weeks ago. The bike shop swapped out the saddle to my preferred Fizik Antares (which I have on my two other bikes, well three but one is now retired).

Thanks, I was thinking about a Fizik saddle (I use one at the spin place I go to) but thought I'd try this one and see what happens. Pretty happy so far, but one 45km commute isn't a representative sample.

The Ride Disc 7000 completed it's longest ride since I bought it almost three months ago. I had the correct front brake pads fitted (don't ask, long story) two days before doing a 300km Audax ride. No more brake squeal. Compared to my Lynskey the Merida's ride was even better over the long distance. I would say most of this likely reflected the 25mm tyres at lower pressure than the 23mm tyres on the Lynskey (I run 15psi less on the wider tyres). Still, the flex stays on the Merida seem to do their job nicely. Power transfer from the wider bottom bracket does appear to be better. The confidence in braking on steep, twisty descents is very comforting. I did a 400km Audax ride last year on my Tommasini and there was a period where it rained at night while I was descending coming up to a tight corner and the rim brakes took forever to bite. Not a great feeling.

I'm going to be replacing my front pads at some point in the foreseeable. Which pads did you go with?

Shimano G02A-R (R for resin). With the 160mm rotors I don't believe you need the finned pads (which keep the brake pads cooler).

Thanks for that. Was leaning towards the resin pads as I'd heard that metal pads would be a bit noisier. Won't be doing any descents or braking often enough for finned pads to be useful.

Hope you're loving the bike as much as I am! :)

I've had it for a couple of months- Ride 5000 (do like a blue bike), finally got around to getting a decent picture. Love spring weather (with my old MTB helmet magpie / butcher bird proofed).

Ride Disc 7000 owners, a quick question. How do you find the ride from the front end? To be honest, I find the front end a bit harsh over irregular surfaces. Seems that the fork is quite stiff (it does appear bulky). I'm running the OEM tyres at 85psi on the front. Interested in your thoughts.

I'm probably not the best person to answer as I haven't been cycling for too long (since January), but I haven't noticed any additional harshness compared to my previous roadie (Reid Osprey). Tyre wise, I've been using Schwalbe Durano Plus for quite a while and run the front at 105 or thereabouts.
