Merida - Scultura Comp 905

Postby josephk86 » Sat Dec 29, 2012 8:17 pm

Hi all,

Been looking at a Merida Scultuta Comp 904 for a Feb. purchase. It was recommended that I would be crazy for not upgrading the budget to $2210.00 and getting the 905, http://99bikes.com.au/bike/merida-scult ... Top10Block" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

What are your thoughts on the 905, any other members got this bike? any other suggestions? I've noticed a bit of brand substitution on some of the components,? How about the wheels, are they any good for an entry level set of wheels. I'm in the Hills of Sydney but happy to drive for a good deal.

Amy advice would be great.

The bike looks ok,

The componants are a bit of a miss mash as you said. http://www.bumsonbikes.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; have some nice Cannondale bikes

Take some bikes in your price range for a ride and you will lnow what feels right

Thought I might try again for some advice...maybe over the break wasn't the best time to ask a question.

Thanks auswi2, I'll check out the site.

You might get more responses on the "buying a bike/parts" forum.

For what it's worth, I bought a Scultura 904 just before Christmas and am very happy with it. For me the difference between the 105 and Ultegra wasn't worth the extra money (and I liked the blue/black colour scheme). :roll:

Thanks Venus...

Had this in the Buying a Bike section but it was moved in here.

I am in the same school, was looking at the 904 ($1911) but the 905 ($2209) has been recommended...not sure if it's worth the additional cash.

For me, the 904 was a big step up so I was very happy to spend the $300 difference on shoes (first time in cleats) and accessories. It's so light, and all of a sudden I can take off up slight hills (still struggling with steeper ones but that's me, not the bike)

There's a nice review of the 904 here if you haven't read it. http://road.cc/content/review/67273-mer ... a-comp-904" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Having said all that, if you've got the money and you like the red colour scheme, go for it!
