Wrt to the BB... The BB30 Quarq bolts straight into the BBright shell, with PF30 bearings) without much mucking around (ie no adaptor a etc)... If u were using GXP with an adaptor (ie Enduro) yes u would lose the benefits, not that you'd notice...

Thanks. $1k is quite a good price. About the same price for a power2max meter but better product. Unfortunately, based on the information on the online store, they only have a 175mm left and I need a 172.5mm crank

I will probably just go with the power2max. The only problems seems to be its sensitivity to temperature, which should not be a problem on most race days which is typically in the afternoon.

I know this thread is for Cervelo Fanatics, to be honest I've never ridden a cervelo but the design is so inviting that makes me take the plunge to get an S5.

What other practical/alternatives bikes sit in this price range which I should look at?

Easy answer but what I was looking at was possibly demo ing few bikes in that range, hence the question on what other bikes stand parallel.

thanks mate, have had the S1 for a while now (nearly 2 years i think??). R5 will be next, just need to find a good second hand one (new is too expensive), hardly any of them on the market. Must be patient!!!

well not practical but the only other bike that i lusted after the cervelos was the specialized venge

Thought I would update my S5 VWD pics as my build is getting close to complete....
Have recently replaced a few things, for comfort, fit, and quality. None have been done to drop weight, as I don't really care to be a weenie, as I have enough weight on myself to lose first

Changes:

• 3T ergonova team bars replaced with a 3T LTD Ergosum mainly due to comfort of the bend, and also to drop the red....
• 3T team stem 110mm -17deg changed to a plain ARX pro stem to drop the red
• Zipp 404s replaced with ENVE 65s with DT 240 hubs (because I hated the rear Zipp hub lateral play)
• Old broken Arione swapped to a new Carbon shell/railed Arione CX

I was also looking at the base S5 model, cannot really afford the higher ones.

Do cervelo dealers allow demo rides, I asked one here in Melbourne and they said NO.

Here's my trusty Alloy - but wish it was a the plastic fantastic below.

Took the S5 for a spin today, the LBS were very courteous and helpful in every manner, no amount of pushyness from any salesmen there

About the Bike, firstly I loved the 51cms frame given I'am only 5'5
The bike looked and felt very compact.
This bike makes you want to go fast, rode it through both front heading and cross winds, the bike remained extremely stable.

This is smooooth, contrary to the usual notion of Stiff bikes being very bumpy, I loved the buttery ride.

I'am sold! almost

IMHO the 51 & 54s look awesome with the short heat tubes.. I hate the look of the tall HT on my 56cm frame, and then the -17deg stem that i have to use to get low!.

As u have found the ride is quite comfy for a stiff aero bike, as the vertical compliance of the rear triangle is quite plush. Conversely, the rear triangle of my (2010) S3 was harsh as hell, and u felt every bump, but I loved it!
