Cervelo R3

Postby Fresh » Mon Mar 14, 2016 7:12 pm

Anyone ride one of these and can provide a recommendation either for or against me buying one? I'm in the market for a bike with sloping geometry and the R3 looks like a good mix of comfort with stiffness where it matters.

I read a long winded post from a bloke in the USA that had constant BB creaking issues on a new frame (I cant find the thread, but Googling for it has thrown up many others with similar issues)...then I read a post like this http://forums.roadbikereview.com/bikes- ... 08987.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which sounds really positive.

If you had the 3-4K (or whatever the price is) right now, would you choose the R3 again?

Cheers

R3 is an awesome bike...
Good bang for buck bike...
Great colorway unless u get the 2016 model which is hideous...
Quick, stiff, forgiving ride...
The BB creaking is common in any bike with pressfit BBs.... The cervelo bb noise is easily fixed, but an annoying thing that shouldn't be an issue... All that needs to be done is to reinstall the bb cups with some grease or Loctite, noise fixed [emoji106]

Perhaps it already has and I just cannot hear it over my knees creaking :-)

Thanks for the replies all, some good info here. Reading a bit more I've found out the S3 has the same geometry as the R3 with added aero goodness. This review is also quite useful: http://redkiteprayer.com/2014/07/the-cervelo-r3-and-s3/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I can see there is already an R3/S3 thread so I'm going to book a ride on each and see which one agrees with me most.

Another happy R3 rider here. Loved it when I first rode it, love it even more after a pro bike fitting.

A friend has an R5 and it's been fine over the last 14k.

There are a lot of things that can cause creaking.. people often blame the BB when it's other things.
