Extend your communication ability on remote tours with Satsleeve - available for iPhones and now for some Android phones.

I like the power traveler...I wonder how much it will cost?

Looks like Blackburn are coming out with a larger cage for touring types...

Personally I'd like to see King Cage put these into production...an early one off cage...

Thanks for the link. Another possible option in the large water bottle cage market.

Some tourists may find the Netgear Trek a useful device.
Instantly share any Internet connection and stay secure with firewall protection for public hotspots with NETGEAR Trek™ Travel Router and Range Extender. No longer pay multiple access fees for each device and turn a wired internet connection into a WiFi hotspot.

I use this and maybe not big on looks I can't fault it for function.

It holds any size plastic bottle like the 2l water bottles from the servo etc and more importantly it holds long necks of Coopers sparkling ale :)

Not good for under down tube mounting though.

I like the new Thule Round Trip Pro bike bag.

Recalling all the times when I've sat on the floor in a hotel assembling/disassembling my bike, it would have been great to have a work stand to do it on, and then just put the whole thing into the bag.

Pros:
Rugged nylon shell expands around aluminum Click-Rail to protect bike during transport
Durable and removable side panels protect the bike
Nylon wheel bags prevent frame and wheel contact
Thru axle adapters for 15mm and 20mm axles included
Integrated bike assembly stand doubles as a convenient bike holder and assembly stand making it easy to assemble and disassemble your bike
Integrated wheels and handles for easy transport and maneuverability
Lightweight and easy to store with folding side panels and collapsible frame
For road, mountain and cyclocross bikes up to and over a 46" / 116.8 cm wheelbase

Cons:
Weighs 9.5kg
Costs $799

Blackburn simply need to re-release their marvellous Bomber cage - a much more robust design for touring uses. I don't understand why they don't do it.

Velogical shrinks the rim drive to "world's lightest" e-bike drive. Maybe this is what Spartacus has been using. :)

I definitely do not like the whine coming off that. Would give me a headache 5mins into the ride. Isn't riding supposed to be pleasurable n fun....

Not exactly lightweight at 9.8 kg but might be of interest ...

Details at Kickstarter.

The inflatable padding is a great idea. Otherwise the Thule with its integrated stand and foldability win hands down.

Just what you need for the romantic cycle tour The TorchGlo :)

TorchGlo is a great way to create ambient lighting while out on the trail. It attaches to any headlamp and diffuses your headlamp's light into pleasant, warm lighting. With TorchGlo, you don't have to buy a lantern or a new lighting device, you can just attach TorchGlo to the headlamp you already own. TorchGlo weighs less than 3 oz, so it won't weigh you down. It radiates the perfect amount of light for a tent, great for reading or talking with friends.

Details can be found at Kickstarter if you are bored.

I was recently sitting out on a verandah with a bicycle tourist, and she had her Sea to Summit X Cup sitting over her headtorch. We thought it was a fantastic idea, and even thought of ways to make a custom fit cover. Looks like someone beat us though! But, I think it is easier to use a pre-existing object if you already have something to fit the bill.

Groovy thing though :D

A thin plastic cup has worked for me.

The one's that come in great stacks of 50 or so, free anywhere there is a water dispenser, eg. Dr.s waiting rooms, but occasionally they provide the clear ones - no good.

Cheap shoes for those that may want to try clipless pedals and not sure if they like them. Mouuntain bike style and a pretty comprehensive size chart. Free delivery, but like all things shoes, it is recommended to go one size larger to allow for walking any distance.

Sorry it came up as a spammer sale.

Re Torch glo- I thought it was critical for LED's to be able to shed heat and that is why they usually have an aluminium surround or cooling fins. My B+M front dynamo light has a metal hood like thing which I presume is for this purpose. And my Led lenser head lamp is mostly ally too.

Yeah. Mine came with dire warnings not to use it stationary for more than a few minutes or it would overheat. Maybe some low powered "be seen" rather than "see" lights would be OK.

In case you didn't notice, this is the touring forum, and we are talking about the low-powered kind of lights you might use in camp on tour.

The Led lenser is a head lamp that does get used for touring and camping Ron.

It's a brilliant headlamp. It can get very hot if covered though. I accidentally left it face down on a sleeping bag for perhaps a minute. I was surprised it didn't burn a hole in my bag. I suspect the torch glo would capture the heat too.
