At 150 euros it's a bit past my budget just now, but for those of us interested in DIY LED lights, the key interesting point is the actual current and voltage that it puts out. It comes with three different wheel diameters on top (accomplishing the difference between 20 and 28 inch models from SON and between P and S models from SP) from what I can work out from various sources, and has efficiency around the same or a bit less than SP's or SON's best offerings.}SkOrPn--7 wrote:Might be of interest to someone.

They have sales tax added on so around 120 euro. This may be a consideration for my latest buildwqlava1 wrote:At 150 euros it's a bit past my budget just now, but for those of us interested in DIY LED lights, the key interesting point is the actual current and voltage that it puts out. That is certainly new and interesting, but probably not much use for touring. Battery life would be an isssue, and possibly weight. It's not a big deal to read a GPS or a smartphone mounted on your bars.kx315 wrote:Stumbled upon this today looks interesting....

However, I think it would be really cool for riding a roadie in the city, where stopping to pull out a smartphone or poring over a GPS is a hassle. If the app is good, particularly the ride sharing function, it could be actually useful. I see that it was designed in New York, where the design would make a lot of sense - a few moments of distraction and you can get splattered.

Fuel4, a bio-ethanol gel which is claimed to be smokeless, non-toxic and environmentally-friendly cooking fuel. Looks like UK only but.
There is a review of it over at BlogPackinLight.

hope you enjoyed your absence.
Look forward to reading a few lines about your trip be they negative or positive.
There has indeed been a post or two about the new Surly lineup but probably only in the Surly threads part of the message board.
Your post merely makes sure some of the Surly love is shared and who in their right mind could complain about that (no bias there )

Recently I came across Zem barefoot shoes, and my pair of Zem Oxygen shoes arrived this week. They are incredibly light and pack completely flat, so they are perfect backup footwear on tour.

You'd need a sat phone account to use it. Don't see the point. My thoughts are it is less then a SPOT device, and a lot less than a sat phone.mitzikatzi wrote:Yellowbrick tracking devices
For me + an emergency .. my thoughts are either or both
A PLB (or EPIRB) [minimum requirement for remote trips]
and/or
a Sat phone.

Showers Pass of Elite 2.1 rain jacket fame have now got into the "water-proof" sock market with the Crosspoint Mid-Calf sock. From their description ...
Soggy toes are a thing of the past! Ride in comfort for hours with our Crosspoint All Weather Cycling Socks; featuring:
Artex waterproof and breathable three-layer bonded construction
Wear resistant knit exterior
Moisture wicking anti-bacterial Coolmax FX lining
Mid-calf length for maximum coverage
(yes, they are actually waterproof!)
(yes, they actually breathe very well)

my experience with these (sealskinz at least) is that the more you wash them the less water resistant they areAushiker wrote:

You might consider one of their umbrellas too Majohn.Majohn wrote:The Helinox chair looks very appealing. I just have to get back on the bike to justify buying it for a tour.
Satisfied that their chair is a decent product, i'm looking at what else the make and now one of their umbrella's is on my wish list.
