These look interesting! Magellan has entered the cycling computer field. Look out Garmin.

The Magellan Cyclo range includes three products:

Cyclo 100 $149

Cyclo 105 $179

Prices look competitive for the feature set offered.

The spin:
CYCLING IS BETTER WITH CYCLO BIKE GPS
Whether you're a pro rider, an amateur or are just looking to get fit, the Magellan Cyclo series of bike GPS computers are the best way of keeping track of your cycling movement and performance.

Right out of the box, they mount on to your bike and keep track of your speed, calories burnt, distance and location with in-built GPS. Perfect for any type of cycling, from mountain biking to city commuting.

Each Cyclo bike GPS device has a 1.8 inch screen and up to 18 hours of battery life, perfect for long cycling journeys. And don't worry about getting it wet, the Cyclo bike GPS series are built for all weather conditions and are waterproof to IPX-7 standard.

When you return home, you can then review and analyse your performance and stats with the Magellan Cyclo Desktop Tool for PC.

On the subject of bike computers, another option in the Garmin Edge 500 marketspace is the O-Synce Navi2Coach. DCRainmaker has a review on it if interested.

marketed as a handy tool to avoid carry-on luggage surcharges/limits at airports ... looks like you could fit a folding bicycle in there

I can visualize the person wearing one, and hear him now: "Sir, do you want to buy a genuine fake Rolex?"

Now if only they could be recharged via dynamo... Also for the tourer who uses a handlebar bag, the light will be hidden by said handlebar bag

UK-based SATcase has launched a satellite communications device of the same name. The case can transform a standard smartphone into a satellite phone, ensuring that its user can communicate no matter where in the world they are. The device contains a 406 beacon that can help SAR teams locate people quickly and accurately and is also capable of reaching frequencies that can be utilised by SAR teams searching by land, air or sea.
Only works with the Samsung Galaxy III/IV at the moment but.

Looks interesting but.

Not sure of the point of this but Bike Rumor has a heads-up on a possible Garmin Edge Touring GPS.

New $200 AU brooks waterproof saddle is hot off the shelves.

http://www.brooksengland.com/catalogue- ... d+Edition/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

At that price I might hold off until it is not such a Ltd Edition ....

You can also read the reviews by the 100 or so people who were given pre-release models to test over several months.
General consensus seems to be it is more comfortable than a relatively new brooks leather saddle but not as comfortable as a well worn one

It's been reported that in the Euro market there is stronger demand for navigation features than for fitness training information, hence the success of the Mio (Magellan) Cyclo 305. Garmin must be feeling the pressure from the competition.
Image
If the Mio can be loaded with more maps I'd be interested in buying one, but there is no chance that I'll ever buy another Garmin.

It is called the Halo and it works with gas canisters. It comes with two USB ports and allows charging whilst cooking. Not sure how much charge you will get out of it whilst cooking and hence if you end up burning gas for the sake of charging.

I seen this mentioned on BROL and was fitting to be mentioned here. Never seen or heard of it until now so have no idea of how useful it would be to us touring folks I'm yet to read up on it.

Nice idea, don't think feasible tho. You need to be turning the pedals all the time to generate power. Going downhill on tour just how many times does one pedal unless there is a headwind of some form..

I only just around to reading it Stuart and there isn't a whole lot of info on the device spec wise. A guy on BROL seems to have purchased one and thinks it's ok but his comments were very short with no real write up on the device so still in the dark. I would like to see on the web site times for recharging from being flat to fully charged but I don't see any of the in depth stuff like that. No mention of what it is made of nor no mention of life span just way to lacking on info.

Another contesnder for a light and easily carried seat - I have two, years old, and they still get a lot of use. Not too sure how they go with an excessively large person but I have never restricted their use and they have held up fine so far.

Saw this today http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2013/ ... id-os.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Looks like Garmin are feeling the pressure from smart phones.
