Hmmm, a detailed review of the Macpac Microlight can be found on CGOAB.

Hi Andrew,

Enjoy your new tent ... Now that you have a new bike and a new tent you will need to put them to work ... Albany to Collie in July on the Munda Biddi is coming up if you are interested :)

Thanks for the link RonK,
I hadnt read that one.
Looks a fair review - points out what he likes and what he doesnt.
Nice that he shares possible ways to iron out what he found to be foibles in his opinion.
I note he takes it into conditions I'd only "consider" taking the Minaret. :o
You mentioned it looked to have potential issues in wind and he found this to be so. :!:
I wonder if he took any photos of his upgrades...... I think I'll send him a PM.
I'll try to resist suggesting he spends his money instead of gale force highland tours on a plane trip to balmy
Queensland for a dry season cycle in sunny weather.
Blimmin CGOAB site. I can never get away and a couple of hours are gone already (whine/whinge) :D

Well two new tents really. I have yet to use the Minaret or Cocoon (bivybag) replacements I bought around xmas.
I sold the one you saw on gumtree and got a huge response with someone in Queensland buying it.
I got Cam (Blacksheep) on the Bushwalk forum, who at the time was with Macpac, to find me a bivybag in green to replace my old one which was no longer waterproof due to the taped seals delaminating due to extreme age.
The sales on at the time meant it was uneconomic to repair compared to buying new so by way of acknowledgement for his effort, I bit the bullet and bought as well a new Minaret in green, a down jacket and an Express 400xl down sleeping bag.
He found me the last green bivybag at Macpac after searching the computer database and ringing around the stores. He finally found one in the samples dept and contacted me. Its an E-vent version although slightly heavier than the current alpine one as I think it was referred to as Bushline.

Keep me informed as to your planned tour as I'm always interested in trips away. I have no firm plans at this stage in July that I remember so tell me more at your leisure.
