Seriously considering a pair of these...

Before pulling the trigger on a pair of Salsa Anything Cages I would like to take a look at the alternatives. I vaguely recall at least one alternative, possibly a UK brand but I cannot find anything. Anyone able to help with suggestions on alternatives to the Salsa cages?
EDIT: Found what I was looking for ... The Gorilla Cage
USD140 for two, including shipping to Australia.
They do look good, but the shipping makes them a pretty expensive proposition compared to Anything Cages.
That Everthing bag looks a better alternative for carrying a tent.
If you want to do a bulk order I'll take a grey one.
I'd consider this over the Salsa - it's a tad cheaper and 4kgs is enough. Using only two bosses it allows a high and low mount option for those of us that have triple boss forks.
Same issues with sourcing though - shipping costs from the U.S. are a killer.
Has anyone tried these? They give you total freedom of placement, fork, downtube, seatpost etc. but I'm a bit sceptic about the 2015 model, with its plastic, but a newer model should be better than the old one, right?

I used the old model on my steelie, same result (damaged paint). The problem is the bolts are too long and protrude through the body/nut and impact the frame - could be quite nasty on a CF frame or fork leg! I've considered breaking it out to put a bottle cage on the seat tube on my CX bike... but too afraid I't'd damage the frame!
Should be ok with a selection of shorter bolts and some patient trial-and-error. I'd also recommend a layer of inner tube between the plastic strap and frame to prevent scuffing.
O/T but that is the lairiest bottle cage I've ever seen! I almost want one...
Salsa Anything cages and bags are available from smartbikeparts.com, and shipping charges are very reasonable too.
smartbikeparts.com offer a huge range of components and is well worth a visit.
Thanks Ron. Handy to know as they offer a reasonable saving over JensonUSA for example.
Just came across this NZ product ... Triple Boss Holsters. NZ$120 for a pair.
Interesting option. I'm liking a local option, but I'm not sold on the idea of something that doesn't have a "bottom". The Salsa Anything Cage (inc HD), Blackburn Outpost Cage and Everything Bag all have something to stop the thing you're carrying falling through the bottom beside the tension of the strap. Maybe that's why they don't like a carriage weight specification?
There is a vertical strap which I assume is meant to make up for a lack of bottom. Whether it works well or not you can test for us
I'm going to try this Twofish Cage Adaptor, which can be fitted to a range of places on the bike - including to forks, I guess.
My purpose is to get "back" the water bottle mount that I will lose when I install my frame bag. I also want to retain use of the BBB Fueltank XL bottle mount which I quite like, and many on here have also had good experience with.
I'm also trying to keep heavy loads (like water) to the frame rather than fork to avoid the need to balance the loads on both sides if I want my steering to be remain neutral.
I can't yet comment on durability - I put it on today.

I will be surprised if that one mount will work with such a long cage with a full long bottle...maybe a second mount will help?
I know what you mean, though it does appear to be more robust that I imagined. I doubt the velcro would come off, though I could see it slipping down the downtube. I might just put a screw into the existing mount to see if that prevents slippage.
It also flexes more than a rigid screw mount because there's a large degree of rubber in the cage adaptor, so that means the bottle ejecting is a greater risk. However, I'm hoping the "locking" mouth component of the BBB XL cafe mount helps with that. Anyway - time will tell.
I don't see how a second mount would work with this bottle holder.
Oh I see what you mean now. That's a different product that doestn't fit on my BBB Fueltank XL cage (or any other cage) - instead, the cage is integrated. Does look like its less likely to slip or come off, but I think it might be more likely for the bottle to eject. That open cage doesn't seem as secure as the BBB.
I have had experience with TwoFish Lockblock light mounts ... as soon as the hook and loop tape got wet they worked loose. Found them hopeless and ditched them in the end. I would at least be monitoring them in a situation where they get wet.
A couple of other options that I am aware of are:
Zéfal Gizmo Universal Bottle Cage Clamps
KLICKfix Bottle KLICK Fixing Set for Bottle Cages 1650
That's already built into the design. It's about 4-5cm long and curved to sit flush against the tube.
