World Traveller with Pinion 18 speed

Postby il padrone » Sat Dec 13, 2014 1:09 am

Koga Miyata are now doing their World Traveller with the Pinion 18 speed gear box. Interestingly, it is also only the second time that I have seen a real touring bike with front pannier racks mounted on a carbon fork.

My Sabbath Silk Route is quite a "real" touring bike and has had carbon forks with pannier racks on it since the day it was built 4 years ago.

OK. Editted :)

Interestingly, not shown as such on their web-site though :? ?? Their Silk Road model shows carbon forks, but no mounts for pannier racks

Interesting but is it really worth the extra weight?

That I do not know, Andrew. But everyone told me about how the Rohloff was too heavy. Now I have one I ride as well as I used to with the derailleur set-up.

I suspect the Rohloff is only about 400-500g heavier than a top-line deraileur group, and about equal to what I had which was STX. The Pinion is about 1kg or more over the Rohloff weight.
