My daughter's Avanti Diana
After looking at the BSOs, I couldn't make her ride one. She hopped on this at the shop and wouldn't get off.

Apologies for the tardy response! Velogear. Comes with a rocking base for young kids, which can be removed later from the balance bike. Adjustable saddle height. Wheels are a bit heavy, though.

Hi came across the thread and as im embarking on a couple of bike rebuilds with help of a good mate, including the quest to build a budget lightweight bike with 20 inch wheels for my 7 year old daughter. thought id put some pics.

Aim is to build as light as feasible and spend no more than $250.00 including orig purchase of the bike itself -- $15 Alum 6061 Carrera 20. This will include repaint, front disc, finishing kit all the fruit - so if you have anything you can or would like to contribute to the build please let me know.

Found a carrera 20 complete bike at the tip all there just showing plenty of love. Aim is to take it to bare frame and build it back up including new paint. SO happy to take advice on colour scheme ideas.

as found

Image

Also found at the tip mint 20inch velocity aero heat front wheel disc mount mavic hub near new schwalbe tyre mounted - paid along with 2 x LX rear derailleurs 3 sets of lightweight pedals and a cromo shogun frame $30

have been offered a set of HED carbon wheels tyre - but they represent the sum of my total build budget and im building the bike for dirt and road - cool wheels though

Image
Frame as it is now - ready for stripping

Image

SO total cost so far is about $25.00 - looking for bars stem brakes cranks etc -need to be light good and cheap

cheers Michel

This is my collection of kids bikes - the three wheeled trike has already been given away and the 2 balance bikes have both about completed their service. Experts will notice that I have skipped a size from the 16" Felt BMX to the 20" Giant MTX.

My boy rarely touches his scooter and totally avoids even touching the balance bike, but from 2 1/2 years old would ride his bike around all day. Getting some speed up these days and happy to ride along with me around the park. It's only a slightly pimped Big W cheapie but as soon as he outgrows it I have plans on an old bike like huggiebears little dragster so our bikes are of a matching era.

Image

The little one is well on the way to riding as well. From 6 months he was in the trailer and loving it.

Very retro, too many wheels though.
