FMalvern Star Oppy A4 Frame Size
Postby dbudworth2 » Mon Aug 10, 2009 12:00 pm
I am currently looking a buying a new Malvern Star Oppy A4. My LBS is getting large in stock, I am approx 6'2" (188cm) but can't decide if the Large or Xlarge is best for me without trying the bike. My LBS will only order in the Xlarge if i buy it and think the large will be fine. Can anyone confirm if the large is a 62cm frame (current bike) or if i would be best to order in the Xlarge.

Ron Boulton Cycle's - I can fully appreciate their point, it is a small shop and to get an Xlarge in would mean that it could potentailly sit their for years (there is one large bike shop in town which carries a lot more bikes at a pricier range) and they are doing me a really good trade so i am not really worried about this per say, i just want to know should i go the XL.

why dont u try a differnt bike for size then check out the size chart for the oppy and yeh use that info. But also u are ordering a bike that you mite not end up liking. maybe its worth going to the bigger store and getting a test ride and properly fitted.

I'm 6'2", and I would ride an L. Although I think I have a slightly shorter torso than most, so the effective top tube length on the XL seems to long for me. This is based on Personal PreferenceTM and my current bike sizings. Tough without trying both, but thats what the sizing chart on the Oppy website tells me.
Still, YMMV, and tough to give an informed opinion.

Just wondering how you went with the OPPY A4.
Did you go with the Large or X-Large ?
I'm in the same boat with the same shop.

Payed a deposit and pick up my large A4 tomorrow.
I'm 6'1" and it was spot on for me.Wouldn't have wanted to go any larger.
better to err on the small side and get a longer stem maybe.

Bumping an old thread but I'm in a similar position - looking at a 2010 Oppy A3. I'm a newbie - haven't ridden road before.
I'm 6', 182cm with a long torso, short legs, short arms. Just looking for confirmation on what I think I already know - M / 54cm is going to be too small on me, right?
Just having a hard time passing up this deal! Thanks.
