Looking for a wheelset to replace a g3 khamsin set I currently have, as the g3 lacing doesn't work with the vintage of the bicycles I have.
10 speed campagnolo compatible freehub, 32 or 36h, silver or black - let me know what you have? Would consider a trade for the g3 khamsins also.
May be able help. I think I have a set of wheels in my locker with a Miche cassette. Will check when I get home.
Dan, I have a spare set of Mavic Cosmos, black hubs, rims and spokes, with a 10-speed Miche Campy compatible cassette. I think the lacing is 24 front, 28 rear. They are in very good condition.
$50 pickup from the CBD if you want 'em.
Hi Ron - thanks for the offer, however I'm looking for something with a more traditional/standard lacing pattern - 2x or 3x. I guess I should've been more specific in my original post. I do appreciate your quick reply, though!
Hehe - thought you might say that. But good luck finding that spoking pattern with 10-speed speed, and Campy at that. Would have to be a custom wheelset I reckon.
Campagnolo would make a mint if they offered new record hubsets in silver or wheelsets without outer space spoking.
Tell me about it ... my jaw dropped at some of the prices I've seen recently for 32 and 36h late generation silver hubs. I think all the mamils have given up cocaine and have now started buying shiny Campy hubs !!!
Good luck. Factory built normal road wheels do not seem to exist anymore.
I ended up building my own 32 spoke wheels, for audax - Miche Racing Box hubs 3x to DT Swiss RR585 (heavy but solid). The other cheaper, but not as cheap, campy compatible hubs are Novatec which are lighter.
Mods, can we please move this thread to the 'why doesn't campagnolo make normal wheels' sub forum?
Unless of course someone has something to offer in terms of the original post.
Dan, can't you build something up?
Would you be happy with black aero rims (similar profile to Stradas).
White industries h3 laced to tb14,job done.
Andy white had some on eBay a few weeks back for $500 posted I think.
I'll echo the White Indo Campy freehub option - great hubs & reasonably priced given the quality.
Thanks for all the feedback re: the white industries hubs. Safe to say if I had the coin for that particular arrangement I wouldn't be looking for a second hand wheelset.
I have a set of bianchi branded black 32h wheels. Black rims with machined sides...I think rims are alex? same as you , for a retro that never gets a look in come ride days.
Dan, got your message. If you need 'em I have my "Rouler" rims that I can do you a good price on.
Otherwise I have:
Used Road Rims (all come off my own wheels - so perfectly true and round):
Kinlin XR-300 24h (excellent used condition)
Mavic Open CD 28h (very good used condition)
Ambrosio Excellence 36h (pair only - very good used condition)
New Road Rims in stock (I have only listed alloy 28h-32h, plenty of others if you want to go as low as 20h):
XLR8 Rouleur 28h
XLR8 Rouleur 32h
A23 Black 32h (early non tubeless extrusion)
A23 OC Black 32h (tubeless extrusion)
H+Sons Archetype Polished 32h
H+SonsTB14 Polished 32h
This set on eBay may be of interest Dan.
I guess these are budget-busters, but still worth a look.
VO Hi-Lo hub, PBP wheel set.
By the way - thanks Dan for reminding me I had a spare set of wheels. They have found a new home now
Not a worry Ron. Thanks all for the various offers - I was looking for something cheap to scratch the itch of having khamsins on an early 90s Colnago. For what it's worth, I can just as well build another set of Ambrosios - they came in at less than $300 total.
It's taken a while but I finally have a set of later model Campy 36h hubs. Not an exact match but close enough (Record & Chorus). I'm gonna stash these deep and keep them for the special build. Luckily I didn't end up paying too much but it's certainly getting harder and quite pricey to find these.
I think I was watching them, too
Got carried away watching the new die hard and forgot to bid.... Not happy... In my own back yard
Shame ... went for very little imo and I rate FIR rims quite highly.
Sound silly but if these wheels were delaced and just the hubs were offered the would have sold for more. I never understand that but I see it all the time.
