[BRIS] - 90's MTB, cranks, bars, shifters

Postby lotusboy » Tue Jul 16, 2013 9:34 pm

Hey all recently picked up an old GT mountain bike frame and while i have most of the bits to finish the build i'm looking for

Crankset - Square taper something along the lines of Shimano STX RC (i'm rather partial to the 'black chrome' it came in), Deore LX, XT? (budget probably won't stretch to XT) Basically just something period and nice
Handlebars - 1" alloy MTB bars, almost anything will do. Something anodized a crazy colour would look particularly neat
Shifters - 3x8 speed shifters. Again preferably deore LX or something along those lines. Anything but just not grip shifts

Iterstate offers welcome but as usual trying to do it all on the cheap so locally is probably better to save on postage costs but feel free to give us a buzz if you have something suitable.

Thanks guys

Haven't got any spare stuff but looking forward to seeing the bike built up. What GT frame did you end up with?

It's a mid 90's GT Zaskar, some clown had resorted to heavy machinery on the bottom bracket after the splines on the dreaded plastic cup sheared off. But a cautious morning with a hacksaw and dremel and a trip to the LBS to clean up the threads and its good to go.

I'll have to get onto doing a proper build thread soon

Nice one, I used to have 99 or 2000(?) Zaskar LE, one of the last US-made ones, sold it last year for some mad reason. Really light bike.

Still after Cranks and a Handlebar, Seriously no one has anything???? Getting a little desperate here I don't want to have to resort to trashing a complete bike just to get parts....

I've decided i also need a bottom pull front derailleur and some pedals, Let me know what you have!

I have a drive side 95or6 stx-rc crank, no rings, unfortunately not the non drive side, it didn't make it through the removal process. It's a long shot but putting it out there. Pm if interested.
