WANTED [MEL]: older road bike for resto project

Postby PatrickB » Mon Mar 10, 2014 10:13 am

Hi every one,

I am currently looking for an older road bike/frame to restore. My idea is to buy a quality old bike and tidy up the frame and fit current components (e.g. ultegra group set...). Was thinking 80s or 90s chromoly. Something lightweight. I am 177 cm so would be looking for 54, 55, or 56 cm frame.

If anyone's got an old one lying around that they are wanting to move on please gimme a yell.

Patrick

I have a tt frame made of Reynolds 853 steel. It has aero shaped tubes so it's not the lightest, I think it was sub 2kg tho, so it isn't that heavy. Has a 535mm top tube, which might be a tad small depending on your body proportions...

If you're interested let me know

G'day mate thanks for replying. What make/model? Could you post or pm me a pic? Also what are you thinking price wise?

Hi guys,

Have decided against the TT bike frame, so am still on the lookout for a road bike/frame. Am looking to spend around $50 to $150 on frame but maybe more depending on what it was :)

I have a complete original Peugeot Izoard about 1990. Top tube is 60 cm so frame prob too big for you. However all the original bits are there and otherwise hard to find... eg, white RX100 groupset, seat post and headstem. 150 the lot.
