WTB [Syd] Power Meter ANT+ compatible

Postby trailgumby » Fri Mar 21, 2014 12:19 pm

I'm looking for a couple-of-years-old power meter for the road bike. Will pay market price according to condition, age and usage. I don't have any firm preference as to the particular type, so long as it is ANT+ head unit compatible.

If hub-based:
Prefer no more than 28H hub and if built into a wheel, 27mm deep or greater rim.

If crank-based:
Needs to be 172.5mm arm crank length and compatible with 50/34 compact rings. Shimano BB first preference, GXP BB is second choice, BB30 third.

Ta. Unfortunately not negotiable on compact gearing. I'm an old fart.

Yeah, sorry same on crank length. I'm a long legged 185cm and ride 175mm on mtb. The 2.5mm diff is noticeable in the glutes when I jump back on the dually - I think 5mm crank difference is possibly a bit too much.

172.5 seems to be a sweet spot for the roadie. Wouldn't mind it on the mtb either to be honest.

Anyway, thanks for asking. If the spider was compatible with 130mm BCD BB30 SRAM 2x10 carbon mtb cranks I might think about it for the Scalpel ;-)

No worries. I'm 185cm too and started out at 175mm, then went to 170mm due to some knee niggles and am now at 172.5 :-)

I'm thinking about moving on my 175mm compact GXP Quarq, let me know if you'd consider that length.

Thinking about it, but will stay with 172.5mm for the moment.

Bump :)

Just a reminder:
If hub-based:
Prefer no more than 28H hub and if built into a wheel, 27mm deep or greater rim.

If crank-based:
Needs to be 172.5mm arm crank length and compatible with 50/34 compact rings. Shimano BB first preference, GXP BB is second choice, BB30 third.

Hmm. I have an old PowerTap Elite+ in the shed, from 2011. Pretty sure it's 28H, not sure of rim depth. Will check in the morning (and see if it still works!)
