I tried for hours to pair these 2 devices for my father.
I updated the IOS to 8.2, updated the 510 firmware to the latest. Installed Garmin Connect Mobile. Set the 510 to 'discoverable' in the Bluetooth settings, the phone just cannot find the 510 when I do a search. So I tried to connect on my Samsung phone, no problems at all. I've tried 'turning it off and on again'. There is some form of connection happening because when I change the display name of the 510, the name changes on the iphone Bluetooth device list.
Driving me crazy. Please help! Google doesn't throw up much. Garmin forums looks fairly useless.

Considering there is a connection being initiated by the fact that a device name is visible on the iPhone it should just be a matter of following all of the correct steps.
To pair an Edge 510/810 with the Garmin Connect Mobile application, please follow the steps below:
iOS:
Place the iOS device within 33 ft. (10 m) of the Edge.
Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on the iOS device (see iOS device manual for details).
From the Edge homescreen, touch Settings (tool shaped icon).
Touch 'Bluetooth'.
Touch 'Pair Smartphone'.
The Edge will display a message stating "Now Discoverable".
Open the iOS device's Bluetooth settings.
Touch the name of the desired Edge device listed under 'Devices'.
When prompted with a 'Bluetooth Pairing Request', Touch 'Pair'.
Wait on this screen until prompted with a message stating "Connect would like to communicate with the GARMIN EDGE" appears.
Touch 'Allow'.
The Garmin Connect Mobile application will automatically open.
Touch the Menu button (3 lines) located in the upper-left corner.
Touch 'Devices'.
Ensure the Edge is listed and shows 'Connected'.

Garmin 510 refuses to pair with iPhone 5

Can't guarantee it but it fixed a lot of my connection issues.... Still a bit flakey though, but a reboot of the 510 usually fixes it... Also, it's a good idea to delete your old rides periodically through the 510 interface... Your connection then doesn't have to hang on as long to get it synced to the garmin app..,Red Rider wrote:Thanks, will give 3.43 a crack this weekend.
Edit: I'm on a jailbroken 5s running 8.1.3

I find that if I turn on bluetooth on both devices, turn off the Garmin then turn it back on, it connects straight away. It's a bit random otherwise.
