First post questions

Postby andione1983 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 7:59 pm

Hi guys Andrew here from the southeast side of Melbourne, basically I am starting riding again for but my current bike is not really good for my riding style, it's a downhill bike and no good for the east link and road riding that ibam doing as its also geared for downhill uphill stuff, I am considering a flat handled road bike or a hybrid... I am leaning towards a Merida Crossway 300/500 any thoughts? Opinions? I hope I have posted in the right section, attatched is a photo of my current bike Image

Unless you're doing short trips in traffic (need to be heads up), or hitting gravel paths (want all terrain tyres), or riding slowly and gently (want comfy, upright and weight off your hands), then just go for a drop bar bike.

I'd grab a cheapish, good quality second hand steel frame drop bar road bike from another forum member or off Gumtree. Re-post anything that you're considering before you buy it into this thread for honest opinions. But make sure whatever it is, is comfortable to ride and fits properly.

Ok, finally looks like i have sold my bike, ended up $500 bucks

Anyway, as i previously mentioned, i think i will mainly be doing road biking, and East link trials, with some fine gravel trackes etc..

I am thinking one of the few options below, my budget is around the 1k mark +-

http://99bikes.com.au/bike/merida-speeder-t5/131/6438 (FLAT BAR ROAD BIKE) $1200
http://99bikes.com.au/bike/merida-cross ... d/129/6465 (Hybrid) $975
http://99bikes.com.au/bike/merida-ride-lite-91/19/7171 (Road bike) $1033
http://99bikes.com.au/bike/merida-race-lite-903/19/6658 (Roadie) $1189

I was tossing up between a flat bar roadie and a Hybrid like the Crossway 500/300 as in the links above,
but after speaking to a guy at work hes saying just go a Roadie..
Not sure..
im more confused the more i look around.. lol
Anyway opinions welcome what do you think?
