Forté Threadless Stem Adapter

Postby brauluver » Sat Dec 13, 2008 12:48 pm

I have a threadless head stem that I would like to utilise on an old fashioned 1" threaded fork.
googling found me this http://www.performancebike.com/shop/pro ... m?SKU=1594

anyone used one of these ,and how did you find it.Seems like an easy alternative to shelling out for a quill stem?

havn't been able to see em on Torpedo or Cell though.Anyone know if they are available any where in OZ?

Cheers dave

Discussion here. Similar items are distributed in Australia. Your LBS should be able to get one in. Get 'em to try Bike Corp for starters. I found a similar item (along with threadless stem) on a department store triple clamp forked, mtb dually out for hard rubbish a week or two ago.

I used one a little while ago.... I bought the adaptor from my LBS, it was about $20 or so from memory. The only thing I didn't like about it was that clamp on stem looked out of place on a steel road bike. The clamp on stems are just bigger than a nice quill stem.

...especially 1 1/8" stems.

I am always on the lookout for some nice early-mid 90's steel or alloy 1" threadless stems with bolt-on face-clamps - yes, they do exist, and they do look a bit more 'slender'. Or you could go for one of these

or a Salsa CROMOLY S.U.Lâ„¢ STEM

That is a very cool Nitto lugged stem. I'd very much desire the quill version for my road bike, but the $US200 price tag is a bit of a detterent  :(
