I have a threadless head stem that I would like to utilise on an old fashioned 1" threaded fork.
googling found me this http://www.performancebike.com/shop/pro ... m?SKU=1594
anyone used one of these ,and how did you find it.Seems like an easy alternative to shelling out for a quill stem?
havn't been able to see em on Torpedo or Cell though.Anyone know if they are available any where in OZ?
Cheers dave

I used one a little while ago.... I bought the adaptor from my LBS, it was about $20 or so from memory. The only thing I didn't like about it was that clamp on stem looked out of place on a steel road bike. The clamp on stems are just bigger than a nice quill stem.

I am always on the lookout for some nice early-mid 90's steel or alloy 1" threadless stems with bolt-on face-clamps - yes, they do exist, and they do look a bit more 'slender'. Or you could go for one of these

That is a very cool Nitto lugged stem. I'd very much desire the quill version for my road bike, but the $US200 price tag is a bit of a detterent
