Just wanted to let everyone know about a US product I bought a little while ago. It is a RoadID, it contains all your details and you wear it while riding. Saves needing to carry a wallet with you in case of emergency. I wear the ankle strap and don't notice it (except the slightly higher tan line :)

Here is the link:
http://www.roadid.com/default.asp

The delivery was prompt too.

Anything that helps if you are in an accident is fantastic. I hope I never have to "use" mine.

Oh dear, there are so many snappy replies to this. Should I close the thread now to prevent them? Or rely on this lot showing some restraint and decorum

Seriously (shuddup Kev), they sound like a good idea, though I personally like the laminated card idea because I'm not a fan of things around my wrists and ankles.

I think we are all grown ups here and can show restraint and decorum when required

Each person has their own preference. I just thought I would share as not everyone has the time to go searching for new things to buy like I did one day in October day last year :D You know the feeling. I need to buy something...now...I can't think of anything I actually NEED for my bike...but I still need to buy something...anything!! So I did!! 8)

OMGosh Doris, a cyclist has fallen. Quick, check his undies for identification :D

Richard

I reiterate Mooster, those IDs are a good idea

You lot certainly know how to make me chuckle!!
But you failed to consider all the possibilities with your old fashioned identification.

What if you were riding so fast that you caught alight and you veered off the road? Kinda like the space shuttle re-rentry?

Or, the more likely scenario that you were stretching the truth so much about how fast you were going and that saying "liar, liar pants on fire" really was true??

What would you do then, huh?!

See, lycra is dangerous. Shyshorts are much more fire retardant ... though with the gasses that some of us put out, nothing would protect you

I carry my mobile with me.

Firstly to call 000 in case of an accident and secondly because my shop alarm goes directly to it.

If I'm unconscious then the lucky rescuer can either steal the phone or use the phone to call the stored 'home' number.

Reminds me of the story of the boy scout in America who checked the pulse of an unconscious woman by checking the femoral artery and got a fair slapping from an on looker thinking he was copping a feel.

I'll go with Tuco here, a mobile is the probably the ultimate multitool, it'll get you out of any problem, physical or mechanical, perhaps the only better things are cable ties and duct tape :P

I was just reading a technical article on Johnny Bonsai (little Bush) Howard's proposed ID card.

We won't need to carry ID or write our name on our undies as the proposed ID card will have all of our information on it.

The only thing they are going to identify under my bike shorts is my religion

RoadID is pretty neat. But seriously, you can easily carry the same information and more without paying in USD.
