Thanks again for your opinions. I ended up getting a Giant CRX 4 flat bar. I'm not too sure how serious I am about cycling at the moment, so a I didn't want to spend too much.

Welcome to the Giant owners club Morz, you're in mostly good company

flat bars

Postby paddo » Wed Jan 28, 2009 10:36 pm

flat bars rock when you need to react fast - hands near brakes etc. how often do you reckon you actually ride in drop possie? never! look at the rest of the bike, you can change bars if you need. drop the lycra and stop posing - get a flat bar.

Congrats Morz! We expect pictures when you've got enough posts and time to show them! Otherwise we are prone to call you a liar ....;)

Cheers,

WOW  Here I was thinkin I was the only one left to hold the banner high - to bring light to those who live in darkness.....
Ahhhh paddo we share a similar "Lycra free" vision

And it seems to be the way of the flatbar !

I have drops, and for awhile there I was keen to rip them off and put a flat bar on. However now I really like them. I almost never use the drop position, only the hoods, but I really like the hood position. Probably 90% of my riding is on them.

Howdy team - i ventured into the 'unknown' last weekend and bought a CELL flat bar roadie.
All seems good so far. Only had one decent ride (my commute is <20km/day). Planning a few other rides like Loop the Lake - put a few km's on before the first service.

Seen a few posts asking about CELL - hopefully i can let y'all know how it goes!

We can compare notes - I received my CELL Team in the post yesterday :)

Which flatbar model did you go for?

SS200 is the model name
I believe it's the same frame as the CELL Blade - i guess few dollars cheaper is because you aren't paying for the levers on the drops.
