Questions about purchasing bicycles and parts

Just made two scoops on flebay - new brakes for the Europa.
Ultegra brake levers - $20 for the pair
Shimano 600 dual pivot brakes - $35 the pair
I'm going to bed tired but happy
You don't need it for the LeMond mate - just love and enjoy what you've got. Unless, of course, you've got some other hidden project ...
Just got the bill for posting the brakes - almost (but not quite) as much as the brakes. Brings the total to $63. Ah well, still less than I expected for good brakes. All I've got to do now is hope there's enough reach on the things - it'll be close. You watch, they'll be short by about half the diameter of the bolt
I'll find out in a week or so won't I
Still happy. Didn't expect to be able to fit brakes of that quality to the old girl, just hoped I would, and both items turned up on the same night (not that common in the first place). Someone must have decided I needed a lift.
Just getting carried away and like to have spares, just in case.....
Probably the next thing will be some tyres in case I get a major puncture or cut so I don't have to shell out top dollars and can get going pretty quick.
Money still burns a hole in my pocket, and one of the major reasons I don't have a credit card anymore.
Ouch, been almost stung like that, but now always get a quote/check before I bid.
Some people are sharks.
I'd rather miss out than get stung.
I'm not 'stung', just didn't mentally allow enough so it came as a surprise. I didn't have time to get a quote as I didn't spot the units until a bit over an hour to go - I normally restrict myself to aussie ebay for this reason (postage). Still a very good set of brakes for less than I'd hoped, let alone feared No-name dual pivots from the lbs will cost me $42 for the pair - these might be used but they're big step up (and'll look good too - this is a FIXIE we're building here. Style gods and all that bulldust I never worry about unless it lands in my lap and I can get some mileage out of it )
As long as you are happy in the end, you are happy, and that is the main thing.
Stung was probably a bit strong, but some people use it to make up for extra sales revenue, rather than true postage costs.
I just got the new seatpost for the LeMond for less than 40% of the normal price (including postage) so I am stoked.
